Fiskville CFA Rehabilitation

Fiskville CFA Training College Stormwater Rehabilitation Works involved the delivery of Bulk Earthworks, Wetlands construction, Diversion channel, Bunding earthworks, Landscaping, Storm water drainage via a combination of direct & subcontract plant and labour.

Diversion Channel Re-alignment

  • Demolition including but not limited to the removal of trees, dead timber, fences, building materials and rubbish as required or necessary
  • Appropriate protection and environmental control measures put in place and maintained throughout project
  • Bulk earthworks, including cut and level 1 filling, remediation of soft spots and allowance for all rock excavation
  • Material tracking
  • Drainage works and modifications
  • Rock beaching
  • Co-ordination with CFA operational requirements and third party contractors
  • Topsoiling of nominated areas
  • Geotechnical testing of works
  • Landscaping and topsoiling
  • Final Clean Up

Pad Training Area Stormwater Diversion

  • Demolition including and not limited to the removal of existing kerb, pavement, traffic islands, trees, dead timber, fences, building materials and rubbish as required or necessary
  • Appropriate protection and environmental control measures put in place and maintained throughout project
  • Implementation of approved Traffic Management Plan. Staged to keep specific areas operational including any ongoing CFA operational requirements and third party construction works
  • Provision, control and maintenance of traffic control devices in accordance with the Traffic Management Plan
  • Bulk earthworks, including cut and level 1 filling and remediation of soft spots, and rock excavation
  • Material tracking
  • Construction of prime seal asphalt pavements
  • Construction of rigid pavements
  • Construction of concrete kerb/kerb and channel
  • Drainage works and modifications including breaking into or modifying existing pits
  • Topsoiling of nominated areas
  • Geotechnical testing of works
  • Final Clean Up

Wetland and Landscape

  • Demolition including but not limited to the removal of trees, dead timber, fences, building materials and rubbish as required or necessary
  • Appropriate protection and environmental control measures put in place and maintained throughout project
  • Implementation of approved Traffic Management Plan. Staged to keep specific areas operational including any ongoing CFA operational requirements and third party construction works
  • Provision, control and maintenance of traffic control devices in accordance with the Traffic Management Plan
  • Bulk earthworks, including cut and level 1 filling and remediation of soft spots, and rock excavation
  • Detail earthworks and clay liner
  • Material tracking
  • Prepare planting areas as per the design drawings
  • Undertake planting – including fertiliser and staking as appropriate
  • Hydroseeding
  • Final Clean Up
  • Contingency Sum

Location: The site is at the existing CFA training facility located on Geelong Balan Road, Fiskville .
Duration: 16 weeks (Dec 13 – April 14)
Bulk earthworks: 22,000m3
Stormwater drainage: 800m
New road pavement: 1900m2
Equipment: 35, 25, 12 & 6t Excavators, 30t Moxies, 815 Compactor, 12H Grader & Watercarts
