The Role

The HSE Advisor will be responsible the monitoring, training and mentoring operations and delivery staff to the requirements of Bitu-mill’s Safety, Environment and Quality Management System.

Responsibilities & Duties within your role

  • Attend work sites and inspect, monitor, lead, train and mentor the delivery teams
  • Ensure all projects are compliant with Bitu-mill’s ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and AS 4801 accreditation requirements
  • Take a lead role in promoting and driving a proactive SEQ culture and behaviours within the organisation by demonstrating an unconditional commitment to Safety, Environment and Quality best practice
  • Ensure project activities are undertaken as per the Project Management Plan and Project Risk Assessment
  • Read, understand, implement and comply with the Bitu-mill Safety, Environment and Quality Management System documentation
  • Training and mentoring of site teams to understand and comply with Management System requirements
  • Participate in Internal Audits and ensure close out of all corrective actions
  • Ensure all work place incidents are reported and investigated as per company and legislative requirements and corrective actions implemented
  • Conduct incident investigations, maintain records and close out corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence
  • Report on HSE performance at the workplace to the HSEQ Manager and workplace Project Manager
  • Identify workplace hazards, assess risk, determine controls and evaluate the processes to ensure the control measures are effective

Skills, Qualifications & Requirements of Candidates

  • Minimum of 4 years OH&S / HSE experience in the Civil Construction industry
  • Excellent communication and people skills at all levels
  • Good working knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Acts and Regulations
  • Good working knowledge of the Construction Industry Codes of Practice documents
  • Good knowledge of relevant Construction Industry Australian Standards
  • Good knowledge of road maintenance and construction methods
  • Good working knowledge of Building Code 2016
  • Excellent understanding and commitment to SEQ requirements
  • Good knowledge of the construction market including existing relationships with sub-contractors
  • Knowledge of the road construction industry highly regarded
  • Ability to prepare accurate and timely documentation
  • Strong communication skills
  • Able to handle several tasks at once and be highly organised
